Everesting #5 Monument to Victory - Lorraine
The 5th Everesting took place on 22nd May an it was at the beautiful staircase at the Monument to Victory and Verdun Soldiers.
The monument was completed and inaugurated in 1929 at the town centre. It has 73 steps leading to a crypt sheltering registers bearing the names of those soldiers who were awarded the Verdun Medal.
However, it wasn’t to be, and in a cruel twist of irony at the ‘Monument to Victory’ Joris suffered a sharp pain and was forced to abandon the attempt on the 500th rep!
This was nonetheless still an incredible feat.
500 reps of a 73 step staircase and a total elevation gain of 7004m is still a heroic effort by anyone’s standards!
